Geometry - We began our discussion of similar polygons (Sec. 7.2), focusing on the definition and its applications. HW for Wednesday - Complete pgs. 465 - 467 #2-6, #11-17, #19-20, #24-25, and #27-29.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We began our discussion of Sec. 6.6, focusing on the Fundamental Thm of Algebra. HW for Wednesday - Complete pg 449 #25-35 (odd) and #41-47.

Geometry - We began our discussion of Ch. 7 today, focusing on ratios and proportions (Sec. 7.1). HW for Monday - pg. 457-458 #1-16 and #28-34.

Algebra 2 / Trig -We discussed finding real roots of polynomial equations which is section 6.5 in the textbook. HW for tonight is to complete page 442 #9,22,31-34

Friday, January 27

Geometry - We completed our Ch. 5 Test in class today. If you retook the 5.5-5.8 in class today, then you need to make arrangements with Mr. Sondgeroth to take the ch. 5 Test during your free time on Monday. There is no HW for Monday.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We completed the Sec. 6.1-6.4 quiz in class today. No HW for Monday.

Geometry - We completed in-class preparations for tomorrow's Ch. 5 Test. HW for Friday - to assist with your preparations for the test, I encourage you to ... 1) complete the online practice test ... and ... 2) look over the chapter review on pgs. 366 - 369 ... thses pages will review the major topics of each section and give you and idea of the types of problems you could see on the test.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We worked on #1-29 on page 437 to review for tomorrow's quiz over 6.1-6.4

Wednesday, January 25th

Geometry - We completed a quiz covering Sec. 5.5 - 5.8 in class today. HW for Thrusday - Complete the practice test that was distributed in class today. The multiple choice page will be collected tomorrow and graded for extra credit.

Algebra 2/Trig- Today in class we discussed section 6.4 focusing on factoring by grouping as well as factoring the sum and difference of cubes. Homework for Thursday - Coomplete page 433 #21-37 (odd) and #45-47.

If you are currently enrolled in Algebra 2 / Trig and are a ...
... Sophomore and your 1st semester grade was greater than 85%, enroll in Pre-Calc.
... Sophomore and your 1st semester grade was less than 85%, see me to discuss your options.
... Junior and your first semester grade was greater than 85%, enroll in Pre-Calc.
... Junior and your first semester grade was less than 85%, enroll in College Algebra.

If you are currently enrolled in Geometry, you should enroll in ...
... Algebra 2 / Trig if your 1st semester grade was greater than 90% and you earned as score of 40 or better on the most recent ALEKS assessment.
... Algebra 1 if your 1st semester grade was less than 90% or you earned a score less than 40 on the most recent ALEKS assessment.
Note: No Sophomore should be enrolled in Algebra 2!

Monday, January 23

Geometry - We completed the ALEKS assessment in class today. Students who did not finish in class should do so during their free time by the end of the day today. No new HW for Tuesday ... make sure that the assignment given on Friday is complete.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We discussed Sec. 6.3, focusing on long and synthetic division of polynomials. HW for Tuesday - Complete pg426 #13-29 (odd), #30, #37, #38, #39-45 (odd), #49. Because of the disruptions in today's class, we did not get through our discussion of synthetic division. As a result, you may omit these problems from today's assignment.

Geometry - We completed a quick quiz covering simplification and operations with radicals (Alg 1 text). We then began our review for next week's Ch. 5 Test. HW for Monday - Complete the Sec. 5.8 Practice B worksheet that was distributed in class. Additionally, complete pg. 365 #2 - 17.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We completed our discussion of Sec. 6.2, focusing on binomial expansion and Pascal's Triangle. HW for Monday - Complete pgs. 418 - 419 #31 -35, #37.

Thursday, January 19

Geometry - We completed our discussion of Sec. 5.8, focusing on the relationships of the sides in a 30-60-90 triangle. HW for Friday - Complete pgs. 360 - 362 #5-8, #13-16, #20-21, and #31-34.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We discussed Sec. 6.2, focusing on operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication) with polynomials. HW for Friday - Complete Pg. 418 - 419 #18-26, #39.

Algebra 2 / Trig - Ms. Wilkinson began the process of taking over this class today. I will post assignments here for the next couple of weeks. After that, Ms. Wilkinson will post them via her own methods. We discussed Sec. 6.1, focusing on the basic properties of polynomials. HW for Thursday - Complete pg 410 #27-30, #32-39, and #47-49.

Geometry - We discussed ways to simplify radical expressions (Algebra 1 text, Sec. 11.6). HW for Wednesday - Complete pgs. 808-809 (in Algebra 1 text) #2-3, #5-8, #11-14, #17-20, #23, #54-59, #61.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We began our Ch. 5 test in class today. Due to Schedule B, many students were unable to complete the test during this hour. All students will be allowed 15 minutes at the start of class tomorrow (Wednesday) to complete the test. As a result, there is no HW for Wednesday.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We finalized our preparations for Tuesday's Ch. 5 Test and began our discussion of Ch. 6. HW for WEDNESDAY - Complete pg. 403 #1-21.

Geometry - We continued our discussion of inequalities in one triangle (Sec. 5.5). HW for Thursday - Complete Practice Worksheet B (available in the online text under the "Additional Practice" tab in Sec. 5.5).

Algebra 2 / Trig - We took a quiz today, covering the following topics:
- finding the discriminant of a quadratic polynomial
- finding the number an type of solutions of a quadratic equation
- finding EXACT zeros - including complex - for a given quadratic function
- solve an application using a quadratic function
- graphing quadratic inequalities
- solving quadratic inequalities
- simplify powers of i
- perform operations using complex numbers
- graph complex numbers

HW for Thursday - Complete the Ch. 5 practice test distributed in class today. The multiple choice portion will be collected and graded for extra credit. The show your work portion will be discussed in class tomorrow.
