Friday, January 22

Geometry - We completed a quiz in class today, covering Sec. 4.4 - 4.6 and focusing on ways to prove triangles are congruent.

No HW for Monday!

Modern Math - We continued our discussion of probability, focusing on the difference in calculations when adding (Prob (A or B) vs multiplying (Prob (A amd B).

No HW for Monday.

Thursday, January 21

Reminder ... Tomorrow is Schedule A Day ... 7:00 classes begin at 9:00 am!

Geometry - We continued our review of congruent triangles and related proofs (Sec. 4.6).

HW for Friday - There is no HW assignment that is due tomorrow ... however, I suggest that students look over the following proofs to help them prepare for tomorrow's Congruent Triangles Proof Quiz ... pg. 285 - 286  #12-13 and #16-20.

Assessment Alert:  We will complete a quiz in class tomorrow (Fri, Jan. 22) covering Sec. 4.4 - 4.6, focusing on proofs involving congruent triangles.

Modern Math -

Wednesday, January 20

Geometry - We continued our discussion, focusing on ways to use congruent triangles (4.6).

HW for Thursday - Complete the proof worksheet that was distributed in class today.  In addition, complete pg. 263  #4 and #7-10 in the textbook.

Assessment Alert:  We will take a quiz covering congruent triangle proofs (Sec. 4.4 - 4.6) on Friday, January 22.

Modern Math - We continued our discussion of probability.

No HW for Thursday.

Tuesday, January 19

Geometry - We continued our discussion of congruent triangles, applying the definition of congruent triangles to prove other relationships (Sec. 4.6).

HW for Wednesday - Complete the proof worksheet that was distributed in class today.

Modern Math  - We continued our discussion of probability and odds (16.3).

No HW for Wednesday.

Friday, January 15

Geometry - We spent the hour reviewing the shortcuts used to prove two triangles are congruent (Sec. 4.4 - 4.5).

HW for Tuesday - Complete the review worksheet that was distributed in class today.

Modern Math - We extended our discussion of counting principles to calculate probability and odds for/against an event occurring. (Sec. 16.3)

HW for Tuesday - Complete the worksheet that we discussed at the end of the hour today.

Thursday, January 14

Geometry - We continued our discussion of congruent figures, formulating "shortcuts" (AAS, SSS, SAS) for proving two triangles are congruent (Sec. 4.4 - 4.5).

No HW for Friday.

Modern Math - We spent the hour reviewing the Sec. 16.2 quiz, trying to develop an understanding of the various counting methods (fundamental counting, permutations, and combinations).

HW for Friday - complete the portions of the quiz that we did not finish reviewing in class today.

Wednesday, January 13

Geometry - We began our exploration of identifying methods for proving triangles congruent employing two of the definitions of congruent triangles discussed in class on Tuesday:

- Two triangles are congruent iff each pr of corr < are congruent and each pr of corr sides are congruent. (This is the traditional DEFINITION of CONGRUENT TRIANGLES that appears in most text books.  It appears in Sec. 4.3 of our text.)

- Two triangles are congruent iff the triangles are similar AND the ratio of corr sides is 1:1.  (We created this "definition" based on our studies of similar triangles in Ch. 7.  We will explore this idea further in Sec. 4.5.)

HW for Thursday - Complete any proof that we did not finish in class.  In addition ...

Modern Math - We discussed various methods for calculating theoretical probabilities.

HW for Thursday - Complete the worksheet that was distributed in class today.
