Wednesday, January 6

Geometry - We continued our discussion of rotations, focusing on rotating around a point in the coordinate plane OTHER than the origin (Sec. 12.3).

HW for Thursday - In the textbook, complete pg. 875 #9-16.  For #13 - 16, if your answer is "yes", estimate the scale factor of the dilation.  If your answer is "no", explain why you fell this is not an example of a dilation.

Additionally, you were asked to complete one problem on the graph paper that we worked on in class today.  On the 4th graph, complete the following:
- Graph triangle ABC, w/ A (3, 7), B (0, 0), and C (6, 1).
- Rotate ABC 90 degrees COUNTERclockwise around the point (4, 0), such that ABC --> XYZ.
- Rotate ABC 90 degrees CLOCKwise around the point (4, 0), such that ABC --> JKL.
- Rotate ABC 180 around the point (4, 0), such that ABC --> MNO.

Modern Math - We continued our discussion of sample spaces (16.1) and multiplication property (16.2), completing a HW quiz covering this material. We began a discussion of additional counting methods, focusing on permutations and combinations (16.2).

HW for Thursday - Complete the Permutations/Combinations worksheet distributed in class today.
