Problems with Sketchpad?

It appears that some of our students have been having difficulty opening Geometer's Sketchpad files on their netbooks. This has caused various netbook problems - locking up, automatically shutting down the browser, etc. Mr. Kurz and Dr. Thompson have developed a solution to address this problem.

Starting Monday, you should go to the help desk and ask the student worker to help you resolve the issue with Sketchpad. It will take about 5-10 minutes to complete the update.

Students in ALL of my classes - Geometry, Alg 2/Trig, AND College Algebra - should stop by the Help Desk to load these updates as soon as possible.

Prediction ...

... remember - you heard it here first - Snow Day on Tuesday, Feb. 9!

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT.

* TIMING... SNOW SHOULD BEGIN TO MOVE INTO AREAS WEST OF I-55 MONDAY MORNING... SPREADING EAST THROUGH THE DAY. MOST OF THE ACCUMULATION SHOULD OCCUR MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING. THE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW WILL BEGIN TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.

* ACCUMULATIONS... IN AREAS NORTH OF I-72... 5 TO 7 INCHES OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE DURING THIS EVENT. TOTALS OF 4 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED SOUTH OF I-72.

* WIND... NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TUESDAY AFTERNOON... AND WILL GUST TO AROUND 30 MPH THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.

* IMPACTS... ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW PACKED AND SLIPPERY MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS THROUGH THE PERIOD. THE STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL ALSO CREATE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW ADDING TO THE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW... SLEET... OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
