Wednesday, March 30

Geometry - We continued our review of area in preparation for the Ch. 9 Test, currently scheduled to be completed in class on Thursday, March 31.

HW for Thursday -
- 7:00 / 8:00 - Information regarding Mr. Speer's classes can be found at http://mr-speer.blogspot.com
- 12:00 / 1:00 - Complete the Ch. 9 Practice Test that was distributed in class today.

Assessment Alert - We will complete the summative assessment (test) for Ch. 9 in class on Thursday, March 31.

Objectives to be covered on Ch. 9 Test:
- express area formulas for rectangle, square, parallelogram, triangle, trapezoid, rhombus, kite, regular polygon, and circle WITHOUT using the words "base", "height", "length", "width"
- calculate the area/perimeter of a figure given its dimensions
- calculate the dimensions/perimeter of a figure given its area
- describe the effect of changes to the dimensions on the area/perimeter of a figure
- use geometric principles to calculate probabilities
- calculate/estimate the area of irregular figures ...
... if the figure lies on a grid, consider applying Pick's Formula or some related method
... if the figure does NOT lie on a grid, consider applying the Area Addition Postulate

Modern Math - We began our discussion of Ch. 3 today, focusing on fair-division games (Sec. 3.1).

HW for Thursday:   Read Sec. 3.2 (Divider/Chooser Method) and complete pgs. 93 - 94  #13-19 ODD in textbook.
