Geometry - We continued our discussion of Sec. 1.2, focusing on midpoints and segment bisectors. HW for Thursday - Complete pgs. 17 - 18 #11-16, #20-26, and #36-39.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We discussed Sec. 1.5, focusing on the properties of exponents. HW for Thursday -

Note: We will take a quiz in Alg 2 / Trig on Friday covering Sec. 1.1 - 1.5.

Geometry - We began our discussion of Sec. 1.2, focusing on the Ruler Postulate and finding distance along a number line. HW for Wednesday - Complete pg 17 #3-4 and #6-8.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We discussed Sec. 1.4, focusing on simplifying expressions. HW for Wednesday - Complete pgs 24 - 25 #26-36 (even) and #52-54 and pg. 30 #9-12 and #17-21.

Geometry - We completed our discussion of Sec. 1.1, focusing on the "Intersection Postulates." HW for Tuesday - Complete pgs 9 - 10 #4-28 (even).

Algebra 2 / Trig - We discussed Sec. 1.3, focusing on the properties of square roots. HW for Tuesday - Complete pgs 24 - 25 #7 - 37 (odd) and #48 - 52 (all).

Geometry - We concluded our discussion of Sec. 1.1, focusing on subsets of a line and some of the basic postulates associated with the undefined terms. HW for Monday - Complete pgs 9 - 10 #3-27 odd.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We discussed Sec. 1.2, focusing on some of the basic properties of algebra (additive identity/inverse, multiplicative identity/inverse, commutative, associative, distributive). HW for Monday - Complete pgs 17 - 19 #1 -29 (odd) and #53-56 (all).

Thursday, August 25

Geometry - We began our discussion of Sec. 1.1, focusing on the undefined terms (point, line, plane) and building additional definitions. No HW for Friday.

Algebra 2 / Trig - We discussed Sec. 1.1, focusing on the identifying the different sets of numbers within the real number system (natural, whole, integers, rationals and irrationals) and rewriting a given set of numbers in different ways (words, roster, interval notation, set-builder notation). HW for Fri - Complete pgs 10 - 11 #16-31.

- Focus on Problem Solving

Come to class on Thursday prepared to discuss and/or take a short “assessment” on the material presented on these pages.

Focus on the following topics in this section:

- Focus on Problem Solving

After you have read through all of these topics, complete the page entitled “Scavenger Hunt.”

Come to class on Thursday prepared to submit your answers (write them on a piece of paper) to the Scavenger Hunt and to discuss the material presented on the other pages.

Online textbooks are available for both my Geometry and Algebra 2 / Trig classes.

To access these texts ...
1) go to my.hrw.com
2) log in using ... Username: uhigh1 and Password: pioneers
3) click on "Go to the Online Textbook" for the appropriate book

At this time, I am not planning to use the "View Assignments" or "View Progress Reports" links for these texts. I may review this decision after the start of the school year.
